TQ everyone who visited WAKE

Hey great job everyone..We made it such a great and memorable visit..I believe all of us would love to make another trip to WAKE not only once but more..So, should we make it as part of our SSLAA activity? We could either make it once a month on one of the weekends or once every semester..We could also set up a WAKE's club haha...

Really need to thank u everyone for being so supportive and seeing each of u doing charity work so happily, it touched me and I felt very delighted to be able to help them out and to have an opportunity to understand AIDS and the victims more :) Also would like to thank the drivers and Corine's auntie for finding the way and driving for a long distance..

To Jessie:
Can u write an article on the visit to WAKE? So that those who couldn't make it will know what happened during the visit..and to encourage more people to go next time..Just a simple one will do and also upload the pics thanks!!

Arigator!!All da way SSLAA!!

The newbie says....

Now that IWW is a past tense, things started to get a bit boring for me. Well, maybe not just me, but for those who out there who are reading this blog.
As a newbie in this club, I never expect that I will be involved so much in this event, and do not ask me why, because even myself is still wondering why. One moment I was sitting there listening to the Mr.President giving his "infuencial" speech, and the next thing I know, I become someone's else PA.
Throughout this very long and tiring journey, this PA-cum-secretary (I still do not know where thsi come from...seriously!!)sure had a lot of things. But one thing for sure, all of us learnt that itinerary can change every few hours (in one occasion, Nick even said that the itinerery that we received half and hour ago is outdated) and things should not be taken into granted, not at least to the very last minute.
All of us show to the people up there that no matter waht happen, we can always stand together, and help out each other. No matter how we worried at first that we might not get enough manpower, but in the end, we get all the kaki and tangan that we can get, and thanks to them, things run smoothly (okay, some things did cropped up, but we still managed to pull it off)
Stating from a newbie point of view, I am really surprised of the amount of commitment that we had put into ( I do not need to say WHO) this event. We might not have many members (it will bound to increase soon!!) but all of us stand as an unit, and we face all the ups and downs together, and we really lived up the spirit of UNITED WE STAND. I remember once someone asked me, " Do you have any post in the club? If not, why are you working so hard?" This does not matter isn't it? You do not need to be at the highest post to get yourself involved and to be commited to something.
I think the most memorable event of all will be at that particular meeting when Sudesh asked how many of us are confident that we can get at least 500 people for our launching day. All of SSLAA's members hands shoot up, without even looking left and right, and without a tinge of doubt. We are full of confidence. I guess this is the thing that had carried us through the event, and survived through it.
I guess I can write on if I continue, but I think I will just spare all of you from reading any longer blog. But let us rememeber, as long as we are always standing side by side, we can always be successful. Let us continue with our unbroken spirit and aim high for the coming event!!

United We Stand!!
SSLA BATU!!!

Go back...

Let us go back to that time together...

SHINE all !

Haha.. All the endless writings are killing my eyes.. but the kind and encouraging words indeed has lighten up my days. So, now here comes my part in putting in not only words but also pictures which i believe speaks louder than words in most of the times. From the pics, I see teamwork, I see courage, I see SSLA ppl working for the common goal !

** Thanks Joshua for the lovely pics

I seriously think that we can use this event,IWW as part of our internship. Should consult pn.Roslina huh? probably can cut down 1 internship period. Haha.. Anyway, after settling all the problems for charity concert. I truly want to thank all the 'hand lenders' in not only IWW but also Charity Concert. It's definitely a successful event with all your help. All the names i would wanna thank would b those mentioned in Michelle's and Evon's post. Hehe.. Special thanks to all the artists and audiences that make their way here and not forgetting those that came all the way for open mic. I wish i could turn back time n allow it to happen. But under some circumstances, nth much i could do at that time. Thanks and also my apologies to JC, Matthew, Ferrychills & The 74our and Shoelace Untied. Hope to see you guys soon on stage!

**Thanks Doppelganger and all SSLA rockers for making this happened and making my lil dreams come true! =) -mcee

Recruitment Exercise

Okay people... IWW IS OVER and the Fashion thing will take place in May only..... So, what do we do now?

Assignments, presentations, exams. Yes. Finish that all up together too...

But let us not forget to fight harder for the glory of being a wonderful club. SSLAA batu!

Now, can we gather more people to help out for the coming new intake of students? We should do a short presentation of what SSLAA is all about and we should invade their orientation day itself.

No gender specific rules, and all the fun we have to offer. Can we seek for more members who can help out in various categories so that we can together, make a difference as we recruit more members and maybe, push them more so we can achieve more glorifying moments for all our SSLAA members..

Categories offered:

1. Publicity - flyers, bunting banners to be done, prepared, placed for max output
2. Audio Visual Aid - slides for p.point presentation and videos about the club
3. On-site crew to explain, promote club
4. Backstage workers to pack goodie bags for Q&A (including find gifts etc)
5. MCs (Benji can kao tim this for me rite? hehehe. Good doggie. Here you go boy, a biscuit)
6. More members to make more noise and offer help to new students who needs a direction
7. MONEY - We hv to collect the RM10 for new members, and lets put up a sales booth also just for the fun of it, sell something..... but no chocolates and muffins. I will kill myself 1st.. Hahaha...

Okay. Go dream up whatever things else we can do, but lets make it impactful

SSLAA batu!!!

Thank you...

To cut things short, I will just briefly go through the people I wanted to thank ages ago...
1. Obviously is my PA lo cause without both her kaki and tangan, I will be dead for sure. Thanks for tolerating with me for such a long time, you must have suffered a lot of pain working under me(pain until fever ah). Sorry if I was stuborn at times (not resting enough, sleep very very 'early' etc etc) which made u nag me so much and sorry if I did gave u too much of work. Anyhow, I really like ur attitude and enjoy working with u.. Miss having someone to follow me around and helping me to jot down things to do etc...
2. Stephanie Kee Ing Fang! Thanks for working so hard until diarrhoea also come to college to help me do things. Really really xin ku ni laaaaa...And I was very impressed with the way you did things. Really fast and efficient but then a bit too garang la and lazy at times wahahaha...Thanks la!

4. Nick.. Sorry for all the scoldings and nagging and really thank u so much for being a great leader throughout the event. Shielding us from SAO hasn't been an easy job and I know it's hell lots of stress dealing with them. I do think u did a good job in dealing with crisis (crisis management) but then sometimes u're quite blur and deaf la hahaha.. Thanks for everything president!!!
5. Wai Ting and team.. Thanks for writing so many for IWW and most of them are required by me so thanks for taking so much effort and time for those write ups. I really love every write ups and you guys are extremely efficient leh... Pui Fuk!
6. Kenny and Cherry (it really rhymes...) Thanks for helping me to settle the exhibition. Without you, I will be the first one to die! It was a fantastic job done by a few of you and thank you once again!
7. Michelle... Thanks for all the flowers yo! Lovely flowers and sorry to leave you with all the flowers all by urself...Thanks for all the helps too!
8. Yang meh meh... Thanks for all the advice (giving tasks to people rather than holding them to myself).. I seriously lack teamwork and thanks for reminding me that there are many people out there who are willing to help me. Thanks for all the designs too and I know it had been a really tough time for you to edit over and over again, it's hell crazy. Also, sorry for all the mistreatments and miscommunications. I promise no more next time...
9. Theresa and Minh... Good job in getting and settling all the food sponsors. What's more I can say..They provided food for more than hundred of people and all the charity concert's artistes leh.. Thank u so much for having the lunch and dinner so well organized and honestly, good job!
10. Angeline, JLo, Tiffany, Corine (help me thank ur aunt) and gang... Thank u for sitting there the whole day taking care of the booth. I know it must have been dead boring for u guys but thanks for volunteering and pushing the sales to the max. Congrats to Angeline, Andrew's performance was great and thanks for dealing with his manager. Thanks to u and JLo too for decorating the women's articles' exhibition.
11. Yau Phang, Bryan, Benji (thanks for being the only emcee for that day, u were great!) and other monkeys... Thanks for helping here and there, being there whenever help was needed, thanks for all the strength and transportation and also thanks for all the crap. Really really appreciate all helping hands... And sorry if I offended anyone, I did not mean anything!!! Hope u know la.. Once again thank u everyone! Hopefully next time we can work together again la and stay united SSLAA!! All da way man!!!

visit to WAKE

sorry guys I suddenly thought of making it next Thursday cause it's a public holiday and I think many of us will be free. So if you guys are ok with next Thursday then I'll arrange the time with WAKE's manager.

Ok let's be fair la. We have 3 options. One is next Thursday (20/3), another one is 21/3 (Fri) and another one is 22/3 (Sat). This coming week also can but might be a bit rush for Mei Cher cause she hasn't settle the money for WAKE yet. So preferably next week and I strongly suggest Thursday la. Cause on Fri, we can only go in the afternoon around 2pm (Mr Daruz said it's better to come after their prayer) and if Saturday, you'll lose an important driver and that is me. Ah O and I will be having badminton tourney on 22nd so we rather you guys come and support us lo..

Haha..joking la it's still up to you guys. Majority wins. Ok? Reply me asap. Thanks.

My thoughts for IWW and upcoming activities...

Siao Bo's thought for IWW

Hello everyone, was supposed to write something here much earlier than this but then was busy being exhausted. I guess my condition is quite bad. I'm feeling sleepy ALL the time...probably currently in hibernation mode.
Anyway, IWW had been an amazing journey for me and I can say it's more like a 'roller coaster' adventure. First came the idea of inviting Dato Shahrizat, making it a grand launch for the opening etc by Prof Nor, then came in the Rotary Club and we nearly cancel all plans for the gala dinner (or is that how you spell it), next came SAO and team, it was a big hu-ha as they wanted so much to get involved in our event and we were so desperate in getting them out of our event (many many things happened since SAO came in and believe me it had been a nightmare to a few of us). Last but not least, after months of all the hard tiring bloody hell loads of works, we nearly cancel of the whole plan of making it grand and big to a small soft launch where there will be only a hundred people attending.
The experience we have been through was really really crazy but it was a memorable one. Despite being kicked around and a few bullets shot deep into our heart, we survived!!! We are still standing tall and united for IWW came to an end with success and satisfaction. I still want more of it you know?
I have a conclusion for everything. Event is really for siao lang and I agree with Michelle that I am crazy but still do things like normal people. Confused? Only people who are in love with events will understand. So for those who are into events, make sure you're crazy ya.

Helping out School of Modelling

What's next? Ms Linda of School of Modelling is asking us to help out for one small project, forgotten launching of what already, anyway, it is really small and I only need a few more people who can give full commitment. Michelle, Nick and I are already up for it so if you are interested, do give me your name asap...

Visit to WAKE

Another thing, we will be visiting WAKE House on the 22nd of March (Saturday) from 10am to 2pm or maybe later. I haven't figure out the transportation. Probably I'll drive a bus? And ya I'm still waiting for WAKE's address. Please pray hard that it is not at some ulu place. And what are we gonna do there? Mainly cleaning up and if we can play with the kids then we might play soccer with them (obviously it's my idea :) Whatever it is, trust me it will be fun (cause whatever we do with a bunch of crazy SSLA people, it will be fun). And submit your name asap cause I promise not more than 15 people for the visit leh...

By the way, who's organizing our end sem dinner and paintball?
I have yet to complete this post but I need to go play pool now so my THANK YOU list will be out some other time la. I promise and I swear there will be a list coming out soon...Okla enough crap, ciao ciao ciao

* Michelle, I did post something ah......

Great job, everyone

Before i start off, i just wonder, WHY tak ada orang want to update anything on this page one eh??
Anyway, we have everyone to thank for the success of our entire event.
It would not have been the same if we lost any one of you, but it would have been better if we had more members around to help. Agreed? (not agreed also i can't help you lah.. haha)
First and foremost, let me thank a few key person whom i really saw them working their @$$ off for this event.
Evon Chong BOBO -- This woman is crazy. Crazy is defined as the state of mind where the person surpassed the threshold potential of being overtly amazing. Somehow or rather, i guess God gave her 48 hours and 2000Kcal to burn every hour. I cannot entirely highlight her potential, her efforts etc etc, but it was truly amazing when we all look at her, and how she pushed her members to get sponsors. Not only sponsorship, she handled so many other things that her counterparts without a car could ever carry. So, lets give it up to BOBO!! Don't worry too much abt the photo exhibition thing and YOU SHOULD NOT say sorry to TMY. Its ALL our fault, every member in SSLA who did not anticipate problems. We should be united, and shoulder all the blames together. OK? So, its not in particular your fault, and you should have been glad we had help from cherry and kenny on that day. Or else, photo exhibition pun tak ada...
Yangyang...... Poor yangyang who had to handle all the problems that Fouzia gave her. It is real unfortunate that she had to handle the problem by herself. Maybe we all are just not as apt and good enough as she is in terms of designing? Sigh... She had been through sleepless nights, stressed up moments, and i guess more hair loss? But, the booklet came out wekk (except the fact than Minh was sad that her surname became Chong instead of ChOOng... haha...) and overall, you did really well....
Overworked and not paid Mei Cher.... Charity Concert's Pao Ka Liao... She has to do everything from A-Z in regards to the concert and we are thankful it went really well, despite some minor prob with the drum and the Mic which went totally FLAT. All in all, we didn't plan for failures. It just happened. But its not a failure, if we were to look on the bright side. Mei Cher got Reza Salleh in for you guys man!!! Its real crazy, seeing 3 encores. Thanks for all the effort put in. A bulk of money earned came from here... So lets give it up to Mei Cher..
Okay, i guess i might be writing an autobiography of all SSLA members if i really did write everything here... Lets see, lemme shorten it okay? names are not placed according to order, but it comes off my mind... so it doesnt matter if it appears first or last. dun go and argue and fight with the other person ok??
Stephanie -- thanks for chasing us or all the deadlines, and more things to be submitted etc. Reminders are important, because when one is busy, they would lack memory power to store important things...
Ley Lynn -- thanks for working hard for games. Don't think too much about the trouble you had to face, but look back and smile because you have just gone through a hurdle..
Ah O -- the girl who loves kopi O and hates the fact that people say 'oh....', thanks for being the PA for like, how many people? it was sheer tough luck being in the IWW Ad-Hoc team, assuming the position as the secretary and dealing with things when you have never done it before in your life.. Although bubble tea's bubbles became 'chao ta',, it is okay... We managed to go through the days (besides falling sick and unable to perform etc) of hardship and sleepless nights besides handling Ken's public speaking assignments...
other than this... who else ah....
OK ok... I remember...
Nick -- our dear president who is overtly thin and malnourished, doesn't eat and doesn't want to eat for the whole day. I guess he is a camel. But after IWW, we should all start with the OPS Makan, force NICK to makan.... muahaha... thanks for dealing with SAO, which is and always had been our problem. Ms. F also, anyway. But what can we all do. Lets together ignore her lah...
Yau Phang -- scary driver, although he drives real fast and squeezes through every lane he can... thanks for all the help in being the kaki-tangan... hands and legs to SSLA means a lot. it may not be used in the planning part of IWW, but kaki-tangan are always important when it comes to execution time.. thanks for being the driver and the crew that we always send here and there to deal with many things...
Bryan -- who scares us all, and scared us on Tuesday morning by whacking his left side mirror while driving to college (wow....fun) and for all your contribution besides being tired and haunting for someone and ended up being 'beaten' in self-defense class. Without you, it would have been less noisy already.. so is this good news?
Benji -- yes, our little doggie. thanks for tending to all the sales stall and skipping class (deliberately) just to get things done. and also taking charge centre stage on Wednesday. I guess my efforts of being a florist kinda paid off too, everyone knows that you can hold the mic and talk. I guess its time i should give way to newer people to MC. Hahaha... Next show, its your call dude..
Reen -- for the RM500 sponsorship and also skipping class and wasting time at the booth to keep us company and take care of the stuff there... and thanks for being there for the concert too...
Eunice, Lilean, Jolene -- thanks for being part of the writer's team and helping out in every possible way. Heard that Eunice had fun interviewing people around.. and JC felt like a star, being interviewed (its meant to be our secret now.. dun tell others okay??)
Wai Ting -- for working behind the scenes and being Editor-in-chief.... Although we didn't have a board to put up the articles, we all felt to bad that we made a board out of polystyrene... Me, Ley Lynn and Theresa made the board just to put up articles there in the Lobby. Thanks for everyone's hard work, esp your team of writers...
Theresa and Minh -- F&B, the most important part of life i guess? without food, people would be hungry and grumpy (like me, always no food). Thanks for all the effort and energy put into getting Sambal Sotong.. haha.. Also, minh.. i owe you a tag. paiseh....
who else.....
Angeline and Jian Ling -- the duo who endlessly decorated so many things. and also the fact that i passed sales items to them to settle when i was not around, and Jian Ling was in chg of calculating money money and more money.. it was fun working with u guys... Hahaha...
Others who made it there for the event. Mind's slipping, cant remember who else to thank. but really. everyone who was there to help out, you all deserve a pat on your back for all the hard work and effort. If i forgot anyone, sorry. But at the back of my mind, you guys are all important, because even if it means we have one person less, we couldn't have done such a great job...
And those who helped 'part time', thanks so much....
Popbadges sales were overwhelming... but we got more collarpins left... anyone wants any?
After all, the memories of us working hard, pushing ourselves to the limits and overworking and falling sick isn't really something that should be recounted every night. But it is the success that we reaped and the smile of contentment that we receive from people from WAKE house, that is something worth remembering. Take it as an experience, and work on life the way we all did work on our Charity Event..
SSLA Rocks!!
Literal translation in BM : SSLA batu!!
adui mak oi....

SSLAA -- Go for it!!

Wah seh...

Setting up the event area wasnt really fun.. Especially if you actually have people at you, screaming and telling you at your face that YOU SUCK when you are not the one who is supposed to 'chap' so much about something..

I can sense that from many members who were helping us today afternoon for the Photo Exhibition and the Event area... And i can safely say, i feel like as though i just failed to coordinate this entire event planning well..

But regretting the fact that plans didn't work is not the way to deal with things. Its the 'what happens next' that is very important...

To a certain extent, TMY is right... We all lack planning. And we rely too much on 'OMS', One Man Show, where one person does too many things and others rely too much on the one person to tell them what to do... I guess, i did the same mistake too, because we all had different functions in the entire line-up of the event

But then again, it was a lesson well-learnt (for me, i guess). Sometimes, putting our logical brains to work is something we all have to do... I guess i let my mind idle for quite awhile already, doing so many other unrelated stuff... And the very fact that we all didn't have the final Meeting on Friday that was supposed to sum up what we are supposed to do.. That was a big pitfall..

But everyone, do not give up. Monday, rehearsal. Do it well. Tuesday, the REAL DEAL. So lets tackle the problem at the root itself and go all out for it...

REMEMBER MS. LEE!!

All the hard work and effort that she put in, i feel that she is the one worth honoring... Lets snap her pic and put up for exhibition and honor her as out iron lady from SAO who is helping us like hell and coming back to office on Sunday just to let us (little cows, cats, doggies and cute squirrels) into the college...

Thanks to all who came today, esp Cherry and Kenny *it rhymes* who helped to settle Teh Min Yang's exhibition... It was sheer tough work... And all others who had their own set of jobscope. Thanks for the effort.

Go for it, everyone in SSLA. Prove to yourself that YOU are capable. Ignore how SAO will look at us. Ignore the fact that the MEDIA and SPONSORS will be there because the most important person that you have to prove your capabilities to is NOT to Nick, or myself, or to anyone else in the club, but YOU yourself..... IF you think you can do it, then you can do it...
