What is The International Women’s Week 2008 (IWW 08)?
The International Women’s Week 2008 is a celebration, carefully planned and executed by the members of Social Science & Liberal Arts Association (SSLA Association). The International Women’s Day is celebrated each year by the students of SSLA Association but this year, the SSLA Association decided to make International Women’s Day a bigger event and to attract more attention from the media, the public as well as everyone who is not shielded by our publicity.
In the 21st century where everyone is on the path of development and success, women are always left out when it comes to this race against time. Looking at the problem that is arising in this century, it would not stop unless the world gathers together in unity to echo the same message, “Stop discrimination against women”. Everyone on the face of the planet plays a role in fighting for an equal chance for women to be part of the world.
International Women’s Week 2008 is a week-long celebration, honoring women of different races, religions, backgrounds or even economic standing. SSLA Association is organizing International Women’s Week 2008 with a hope that everyone, especially the women, would appreciate the achievements that women in the society achieved and also hope that they would continue to believe in themselves and contribute to the society.
Beneficiary:
There would be one beneficiary for our IWW08 event this year. Amnesty International was recently added into our list of beneficiary, and this is why from the SSLA Association would want to work harder to gain more support and assistance from the caring public to assist our beneficiaries.
Members of the SSLA Association are very supportive of Amnesty International’s mission is “to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights.” Although ending these problems that existed for centuries would be a tough job, it should not be a reason to deter everyone from even giving it a try at making the world a better place to live in.
Goal:
To celebrate the achievement of women from all over the world; to showcase their achievements and also to be a source of inspiration to others.
Objectives:
· To acknowledge the achievement of women.
· To celebrate the contribution of women to the families, the nation and the world.
· To trigger public awareness about women’s role and rights.
Benefit of organizing this event?
Organizing a Charity Event had all along been part of SSLA Association’s Social Responsibility project for some time already. The International Women’s Day, which falls on the 8th March every year and celebrated worldwide was selected as the biggest event our Association had always been organizing.
In this century, there are already many successful women. But at the same time, we also see many battered and bruised women who do not know how to seek for shelter and assistance. The International Women’s Week 2008 event is aimed at promoting the importance of women in the society.
Not only would this event promote the importance of women’s role in today’s society and become an eye opener to those people who have yet to see the other side of the story, this event would also be an avenue for others to show that they care about the importance of women in this society.
8TV had already given their word to cover our event. Tentative date was already set on the 4th March 2008 for the Opening Ceremony of the International Women’s Week 2008 event. All sponsors would be invited to join us for the Opening Ceremony itself.
Currently, our team is working very hard to contact the press to come in for a Press Conference on the closing of the International Women’s Week 2008 event. A series of events would be held in the college and many people are expected to attend this event. In a way, there would be high human traffic during the event week itself and so, it would be a very good chance for our sponsors to make an appearance at the event ground. More benefits of being a sponsor could be found in the Sponsorship Letter, and we hope that you’d be able to take a look at what we have to offer
This would be a very good chance for everyone to do something good and to spread the cheers to the less fortunate!
